Join our team as a Payroll Specialist! As an experienced team member, the Payroll Specialist demonstrates a high level of autonomy, initiative, and collaboration, bringing creative solutions to challenges and driving continuous improvement in payroll operations and employee experience. The Payroll Specialist plays a crucial role by ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll activities.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Leading payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations for over 4000 salaried and hourly staff, across multiple jurisdictions in Canada and the United States.
  • Reviewing and auditing payroll data for accuracy and completeness by applying internal control processes.
  • Handling complex payroll transactions, including bonuses, incentives, retros, and deductions.
  • Addressing and resolving payroll-related issues and discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Completing year end audits, including month end and year end closing accruals and payroll account reconciliations.
  • Ensuring payroll related remittances such as tax withholdings are done accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Processing Records of Employment, contributing to year end activities, IE. T4s, RL1, T2200.
  • Proactively identifying payroll changes and providing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement improvements and automation into processes.

As The Successful Candidate, You Have

  • National Payroll Institute designation
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll processing experience specifically related to full cycle payroll processing.
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Multi-province payroll processing experience. US payroll experience is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in payroll and time tracking software, experience with UKG Pro considered an asset.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, critical thinking, and organizational skills. Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of initiative and innovation mindset, ability to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Bilingualism, French and English is considered an asset.
