Key Responsibilities


The Business Development Manager role is responsible for developing and nurturing new and existing relationships with our broker partners. The role balances a sales and service mindset by building long-term relationships in our customer channels and by successfully executing their accountabilities in the company’s growth strategy.


 Business Development and Planning:

  •  Develops a growth strategy that focuses on mortgage broker satisfaction and the building of long-term relationships.
  • Identifies potential clients who align product offerings with customer needs.
  • Arrange and visit new and existing mortgage broker referral partners throughout an assigned territory.
  •  Works cohesively with the Chief Sales Officer and the business development team to identify opportunities to grow the business.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of the overall industry, competition, industry trends, and market conditions.
  •  Actively participates in referring retail capital to Alta West Capital.


Customer Relations and Marketing

  • Provide feedback to clients and ensure after-sales support.
  • Attends and represents Alta West Capital at industry events.
  •  Maintains an elevated level of professionalism and integrity in all interactions representing the company.


 Reporting and Process Improvement

  • Prepare weekly sales itineraries and appointment schedules with corresponding narrative broker visits.
  •  Compiles detailed expense and mileage reports.
  •  Prepares quarterly and annual business plans.
  •  Attends weekly conference calls with the senior management team to report on volumes, trends, industry news, issues, and strategies
  •  Communicate effectively with the underwriting team and other colleagues to identify process improvements that enhance the overall broker experience.
  • Performs other related duties that benefit the goals and intentions of the organization


Skills Requested

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in finance, business administration, or a related field. Will also consider a combination of education and industry experience.
  •  3 to 5 years of mortgage industry experience
  •  Able to continuously maintain Mortgage Agent licensing for the province(s) of assigned territory
  • Has a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to travel throughout assigned territory
  •  Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and related KPIs in a pay-for-performance organization
  •  Exceptional ethics and proven ability to resolve complex client issues to positive resolution
  •  Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
  •  Good analytical, negotiation, project management, and organizational skills
  •  Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Salesforce preferably, and willing and able to learn other software used by role
  • Good understanding of using social media
