Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer – LHA5020H: Special Topics in Educational Leadership and Policy: Masters Level: International Development and Education

Course description:

This course examines the role of education in international development. The course provides an overview to major inter-governmental organizations and their varied approaches to educational development over time. It pays particular attention to the role of international organizations in creating and circulating global discourses, policy scripts, and best practices, and how these global ideas get localized to diverse national contexts. The course also explores the role of national governments and local civil society actors in implementing, challenging, re-purposing and interpreting global models. The course will cover different topics, such as gender, and cases from countries from around the world.

Pay for half course, vacation pay included:

Sessional Lecturer I: $9,182.42
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,641.55
Sessional Lecturer II: $9,826.96
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,025.84
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,060.93
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,262.15

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications:

Candidates must hold a doctorate in Education Leadership and Policy or a related field; have a demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Educational Leadership and Policy and the subject area of the course; have professional, advocacy, and/or knowledge mobilization experience in the area of PK-12 Educational Leadership and Policy; and have successful post-secondary teaching experience and a successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience teaching graduate-level courses. Experience teaching in the subject area of the course.

Description of duties:

Prepare, organize, and lead this graduate half course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback.
