Pipeline Trader

We are seeking a highly motivated Pipeline Trader to join our Canada office. The successful candidate will be responsible for trading activities associated with the Canadian commodities market, specializing in pipeline physical crude oil markets in Canada. The Pipeline Trader will be responsible for profit and loss and will be required to grow the business in both volume and margins.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for the optimization and execution of the marketing and trading activities.
- Prepares and executes deals to defined benchmarks and within acceptable risk tolerances.
- Proactively provide technical and fundamental market information to the Trading team.
- Support the physical Crude teams and the Risk Marketing unit with market making services in crude derivatives on behalf of the Global Crude Trading teams in coordination with the global risk management strategy.
- Study, develop, optimize, and document new methods and systems for procuring physical products.
- Recommend strategies to maximize the value of company assets.
- Accountable for capturing and verifying transaction details.
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, practices, procedures, and regulations.
- Report industry trends and analysis, continuously gather market intelligence, and assess opportunities to add value to the company.
- Identify and recommend innovative strategies to deliver marketing solutions to maximize value under all market conditions.
- Perform all these activities to company standards within a highly controlled environment governed by external regulatory requirements as well as internal controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of related trading and logistics experience.
- Experience with contract negotiations and problem-solving skills are required.
- Experienced in pipeline crude trade and its mechanism.
- Experienced in marketing pipeline crude in local refineries in Canada and the US.
- Solid experience working with trading software and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of physical and financial commodity markets.
- Knowledge and experience in market risk management instruments.
- Strong knowledge of local and regional commodity markets combined with business acumen and advanced analytical skills.
- Able to work in a high-pressure dynamic environment with deadlines and competing responsibilities.
- Experience working in a geographically dispersed environment is an asset.
