As a Design Manager working in the Major Projects team at Pomerleau Construction, you will play a crucial part in managing the design development and technical aspects of design-build construction projects. Supporting our work on large-scale building and infrastructure projects - ranging from $1.5 million to upwards of $1 billion - you will use your strong experience across validating construction methods, actively participating in concept development, and fostering synergies between our design and construction teams.

What You Will Do

  • In charge of managing engineering activities, from preliminary design to construction phase with focus on risk management, easements, permits and approvals, technical feasibility, and adherence to design standards, constructability, and incorporating lessons learned.
  • Help in ensuring successful integrated delivery of projects by working collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary environment including working closely with our global resources.
  • Assist with the preparation and review of drawings, reports, and contract documents
  • Oversee constructability reviews of all design and contract packages prior to tender, responsible for coordinating the final QA/QC review of all tender packages
  • Coordinate the quantities survey to ensure the quantities provided in the target cost are complete and correct.
  • Will be supported by discipline leads and team of professionals that will prepare all submissions in a timely manner.
  • Provide support during tender periods and be responsible for providing prompt answers to all questions received from suppliers in addition to managing any revisions required to tender documents.
  • Liaise with internal and external staff, outside agencies, contractors, consultants, and the public on construction projects and provides technical information.
  • Build mutually respectful and constructive relationships with project management teams, clients, and front-line workers.

This role could be for you if you have

  • A bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in heavy infrastructure engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in leading a large team of designers on heavy infrastructure projects.
  • Passion. You are an engaged leader, looking to challenge and continuously improve the ways we work and the solutions we provide to our clients with innovative ideas.
  • Thorough knowledge of theory, principles and practices of planning, design and construction and relevant legislations, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including client focus, communication, collaboration and personal ownership.

The expected salary range for this opportunity is $105,000 - $145,000. Please note that salaries may vary depending on the candidate’s experience and geographical location. Listed compensation is exclusive of bonus and in addition to our extensive employee benefits program which is listed above. Availability of certain benefits may vary based on the specific job role.
