Date: 8 hours ago
City: Toronto, ON
Contract type: Full time
Are you driven by a desire to provide compassionate care during critical moments in patients' lives? As a Social Worker at Mount Sinai Hospital, you’ll be an integral part of our interdisciplinary team, offering psychosocial support that complements the medical care provided by our health care professionals. In this role, you’ll navigate a diverse range of cases, ensuring each patient and their family receive the guidance and resources they need. Your advocacy and resourcefulness will play a crucial role in connecting patients to community services and support systems, making a lasting impact on their recovery and overall well-being.

In the NICU, your role centers on empowering families facing a newborn’s critical health condition. You’ll facilitate connections to specialized support systems and educational resources tailored to neonatal care needs, significantly easing the emotional load on parents during this challenging time.

Is this you?

You are a compassionate and patient professional, driven to support patients and families during challenging times. In this role, you’ll provide a comforting presence, actively listening, and offering tailored support that addresses psychosocial needs. For example, you might guide a family through the stress of a difficult diagnosis, offering resources and emotional support that helps them cope and adapt with clarity and understanding. Your expertise in crisis intervention and brief therapeutic interventions allows you to provide immediate, effective support while respecting professional boundaries and the limits of your role

You are also a creative problem-solver, adept at multi-tasking and quickly assessing situations to implement appropriate interventions. This might involve addressing a patient's immediate needs during a crisis, such as helping a family find temporary support following an unexpected medical event. Your ability to think creatively ensures that patients receive the support they need in critical moments.
