With Confluent, organizations can harness the full power of continuously flowing data to innovate and win in the modern digital world. We have a purpose that drives us to do better every day – we're creating an entirely new category within data infrastructure - data streaming. This technology will allow every organization to create experiences and use the power of data in ways that profoundly impact the way we all live. This impact is our purpose and drives us to do better every day.

One Confluent. One team. One Data Streaming Platform.

Data Connects Us.

About The Role

As a Staff Product Manager in the Kora Compute team at Confluent, you’ll contribute to the mission of building the world’s best data-in-motion platform. You will be responsible for helping to ensure Confluent’s core SaaS product, Confluent Cloud, is reliable, scalable, and easy to operate, both for external customers and internal teams.

You’ll be the owner of key parts of the product, including critical aspects of orchestration, scheduling of kafka resources, and performance. You will represent key metrics, such as SLOs/SLAs, p99s, and cost efficiency, and represent the voice of the customer and internal teams in ensuring those concerns are being appropriately prioritized. You’ll become the trusted resource for your domain, making sure that the engineering, product, and overall business operations are aligned to a roadmap that allows us to continue to bring a world-class experience to our customers.

What You Will Do

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a software product manager, ideally for a developer product and 8-12 years of experience in overall technical roles
  • A strong understanding of how SaaS products are built and operated, with the ability to collaborate with engineering counterparts to identify critical reliability, scalability, and performance issues
  • Ability to craft a product strategy and roadmap in concert with customers, engineering, and CS teams to ensure continued reliability and future scalability
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to distill technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Strong technical competency, especially with distributed data systems and public and private clouds
  • Experience with streaming data is a plus

What You Will Bring

  • Execute Confluent’s Cloud’s Kora Compute Roadmap with a focus on ensuring that our cloud offerings are ready for rapid growth.
  • Developing product and technical specifications for Enterprise Clusters, Freight Clusters, and other exciting unannounced projects.
  • Working closely with customers, internal and external, to help gather feedback, and requirements, share our vision and roadmap, and deeply understand their user journeys.
  • Educating Confluent’s field and the broader community about new features.
  • Be responsible for the whole lifecycle: Drive multi-company, cross-functional initiatives from conception through initial delivery, and ongoing iteration after launch.
  • Close the loop: Define quantitative and qualitative targets, measure performance against them, share results with stakeholders, and incorporate those learnings into the next development cycle.
  • Manage complexity: Deliver value while handling the surprises and challenges of a quickly evolving product, ambitious partnership targets, and a rapidly growing organization.
  • Develop a strategic vision of where to invest our effort to help our customers succeed.
