Kenn Borek Air (KBA) is a diversified worldwide aircraft charter and leasing operation. The KBA Flight Operations team is currently seeking a Flight Operations Coordinator. This full-time position is based in Calgary, AB working Monday to Friday. Please note that remote work is not an option for this position.
Reporting to the Chief Pilot, the Flight Operations Coordinator is intended to enhance the supervisory capabilities of the Chief Pilot and to assist in administrative duties particularly with regards to the Flight Operations training functions.
- During absences, the Chief Pilot may delegate his/her duties to the Flight Operations Coordinator. During these absences, the position of Flight Operations Coordinator reports to the Operations Manager.
- Supervision of day-to-day operational occurrences with respect to Flight Crews ensuring the safety and regulatory compliance of all flight operations; and work with all departments regarding flight safety.
- Work with flight following to monitor pilot flight and duty times.
- Ensuring compliance and utilization of the company SMS system and completion of SMS investigations as assigned.
- Administrative responsibilities for the pilot staff to include recruitment, training, reviews and scheduling.
- Accountable for Flight Operations training programs, ensuring they are monitored for currency and meeting all regulatory requirements. Provide, through delegation or completion, all required course enhancements and/or development of all technical and non-technical training requirements.
- Continuous monitoring of pilot records and training requirements.
- Liaise with the Flight Operations Records Administrator for the documentation of individual training conducted.
- Effective management, standardization, and administration of all Flight Operations flight and ground training programs to include the development and currency of training materials, ensuring they are monitored for currency and meeting all regulatory requirements.
- Provide facilitation support, as required and qualified to perform, for technical ground schools and other related industry identified courses to meet a diverse range of strengths and learning styles.
- Oversee and actively participate in aspects of ground, simulator, flight training and / or third-party training including producing a monthly and annual training schedule based on current requirements; development of schedule is completed in conjunction with the Flight Operations Administrator for coordination against rotation schedules.
- Scheduling training and check rides with notification to KBA Flight Operations employees of training details and schedule.
- Provide leadership, guidance and troubleshooting to Administrators of on-line learning database(s) and training record database and set up of all Flight Operations employees in the various databases.
- Continuously monitor each member of Flight Operations for completion of assigned training; release reminders as required; determination of non-compliance; liaise with Chief Pilot(s) in the event of training overdue and impact to scheduling; confirmation of next due date.
- Review of all submitted training documentation, ensuring information contained is accurate and all forms are complete for the information required and stamp as reviewed.
- Maintain company electronic flight bag and update as required.
- Monitor, analyze and report recurring and/or systemic problems with training processes, policies, and practices.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Experience in a Flight Operations Department is an asset
- Demonstrate knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of Management skills combined with years of experience and education
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of both Quality Control and Quality Assurance methods combined with education
