What To Expect
To enable the Gates Canada, Brantford Operations meet its business plan objectives through the effective management of Regional teams and commercial strategy execution. Responsible for communication with field management at key distributors and the management of the business planning process with top accounts. Provide leadership to drive growth and consistently increase market share within the assigned Region. Develop and recruit top talent and build a high performing team of sales professionals. Ultimate responsibility for the development and execution of the Canada Industrial Replacement growth strategy. Position is located in Brantford, Canada AND reports to the VP, Sales - Industrial Replacement.
Travel schedule is approximately 60% within Canada and the US with the majority being overnight.
Work schedule flexibility is required to meet the demands of the marketplace and target account acquisition.

KEY RESPONSIBILITES
- Manage an offsite multi- Provincial Sales team and coordinate efforts of sales personnel toward the attainment of sales objectives while improving the organization's competitive position.
- Recruit and consistently develop top talent to build a high performing team of sales professionals.
- Leads strategic and tactical planning, goal setting, sales budgets, market analysis, forecasting, and expense allocation for the Regional Sales Team.
- Develops strategic plan for the Region and holds sales associates accountable for achieving results by tracking activities and business wins and losses in CRM
- Responsible for the review and approval of the monthly Sales Commission sales incentive plan.
- Serve as a leader on the Brantford Management Team Committee, with ultimate responsibility for the development and execution of the Canada Industrial Replacement growth strategy.
- Develops strong relationships with Distributor Management and Key Industrial Accounts.
- Responsible for Communication at a Corporate Management level with Distribution, End users, and Original Equipment Manufacturers
- Travels extensively within the assigned geography and develops deep relationships with customers and management level contacts; provides advice and assistance to the Corporate Management Team in Industrial Replacement & Services
- Puts forward OEM and Distributor requests that challenge our organization to be faster, more efficient and open to new ways of thinking
- Helps develop and execute the Canada commercial strategic plan to ensure alignment with the corporate strategy.
- Promote continuous improvement concepts throughout the organization.
Market Development And Financial Responsibility
- Establishes sales objectives by forecasting and developing annual sales quotas for regions and territories; projects expected sales volume and profit for existing and new products in the Industrial Replacement Markets in Canada.
- Direct responsibility for Sales results within the Industrial replacement market in Canada.
- Develops and manages sales volume and profitability while conforming to budgetary requirements.
- Approves all new account set ups for the assigned Region.
- Reports sales and goal progress to Executive Management and reports industry and market specific trends as well as customer feedback to improve processes.
- Analyses and reports trends of diverse end markets within the Regional Assignment.
- Uses SellSmart with the Sales Team to manager new sales opportunities.
- University Degree or College diploma in Business or equivalent combination of Education and Experience, with a minimum of 10 years specific managerial experience in an Industrial sales environment.
- MBA preferred.
- Preference will be given to candidates with history working with key distributors including Motion Industries, BDI, Wajax, etc.
- A broad-based skill set is required with specific industry experience and knowledge of end markets and key customers within Industrial Power Transmission and Fluid Power channels.
- High degree of managerial, leadership, and communication skills (verbal & written) are necessary for this role.
- Must have strong capabilities in all areas of business management and a good understanding of market pricing pressures, industry demands, P&L inputs and detail, income statements and balance sheets. Business strategy development and implementation capabilities required.
- Demonstrated advanced leadership skills with a proven track record in managing sales and cross functional teams.
- Ambition to continue to learn and grow with the organization, with ability and aspiration to take on future leadership roles within Gates.
- Excellent organizational skills
- Using sound business judgment, having a general manager mindset (assessing a market and setting direction)
- Ability to predict contingent outcomes from both the customer and competitive perspectives
