In the Faculty of Arts & Science, the Centre for Entrepreneurship is the hub for innovation and entrepreneurship-related academic courses, co-curricular programs, and venture incubation and acceleration. Located in its new dedicated space in the Schwarz Reisman Innovation Campus West Building, the Centre works collaboratively with academic departments, college programs, centres, institutes and schools to serve undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty and alumni. A core component of its mandate is to build an entrepreneurial culture throughout Arts & Science by incorporating a central theme of instilling an entrepreneurial mindset and bias toward action.


Your opportunity:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Coordinator, Entrepreneurship Programs will support a growing portfolio of educational and experiential programs that align with the strategic priorities of the Centre. This includes academic courses and co-curricular programs with experiential, instructional, and/or mentoring components, and the development of new customized cohort programs to support entrepreneurial pursuits and engagement across the Faculty of Arts & Science.

Our ideal candidate is a team player, who is passionate about building educational and experiential programs to support current and aspiring entrepreneurs, enjoys strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance, including students, faculty, alumni and external partners, and brings a creative approach to our programs to ensure they are relevant and meaningful to stakeholders. To further the Centre’s vision and goals, the incumbent must keep well informed on entrepreneurship educational and experiential trends in national and global settings.

The Coordinator will be responsible for: working with multiple internal and external stakeholders to deliver academic programs, co-curricular programs, events and training workshops; sourcing and vetting eligible internship providers for experiential learning courses; documenting program timelines, milestones, and achievements; resolving logistics for educational and experiential programs; serving as the first point of contact for program and event-related queries; conducting evaluations, generating reports, and liaising with management to determine goals and priorities; ensuring timely communications and follow-ups with program/course participants; overseeing the collection of data and interpretation of stakeholder engagement strategies; monitoring and enrolling eligible candidates in academic courses and co-curricular programs; drafting communications and promoting programs/events; managing expenses for programs and events; implementing plans and process improvements; assigning and checking the work of student ambassadors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Promoting experiential learning opportunities
  • Determining logistical details and activities for events and/or programming
  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions
  • Editing content for brochures, newsletters, websites and/or handbooks
  • Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
  • Monitoring accounts for a project and/or program

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in education, business administration, or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years experience of related experience in designing and administering student experience or co-curricular activities in a higher education setting required.
  • Of the four years’ experience, a minimum of two years’ experience in student advising, preferably within an academic program, faculty/academic department or academic advising/career center/experiential learning unit required.
  • Experience with the University’s Student Information System ROSI (Repository of Student Information)/ACORN, Degree Navigator or a similar database system is required.
  • Demonstrable expertise with learning management systems (ie. Blackboard, Canvas) is required.
  • Experience working with employers/external stakeholders to secure experiential learning opportunities for academic course requirements and co-curricular enrichment activities required.
  • Experience conceptualizing special events and/or functions including determining logistics and activities for events and/or programming.
  • Broad knowledge of labour market trends.
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication.
  • Strong organizational, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly developed analyticalskills with a good eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to coordinate a variety of projects, deadlines and schedules simultaneously.
  • Tact, judgment and patience in dealing with students and other stakeholders and in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.
  • Demonstratable experience following rules and procedural processes related to FIPPA required.
  • Excellent computer skills as applied to databases, spreadsheets, word processing and demonstrable experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are essential.


Assets (Nonessential):

  • Experience in a co-op setting is an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in designing co-curricular programs to develop entrepreneurial skills is an asset.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in delivering entrepreneurial professional skills training to a range of diverse stakeholders is an asset.
  • Knowledge of local and global trends in entrepreneurship education is an asset.
