Program: Early Childhood Assistant/Education (ECA/ECE) Program Delivery

Location: OIHI – 124 Eglinton

Reports to: Academic Director

Job Overview:

The Early Childcare Coordinator is responsible for supporting the delivery, coordination, and enhancement of the Early Childhood (ECA/ECE) program. The role involves assisting in the management of day-to-day operations, providing guidance to faculty and students, ensuring adherence to academic standards, and fostering a nurturing and inclusive learning environment for students. The coordinator will work closely with the Academic Director, faculty, and community partners to ensure the effective delivery of the ECA/ECE program and to support student success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination:
  • Assist in the planning, scheduling, and coordination of ECA/ECE courses and program activities.
  • Support the Academic Director in maintaining and updating curriculum materials to ensure alignment with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Organize student orientation sessions, workshops, and program-related events.
  • Keep inventory of ECA/ECE resources
  • Support in course portfolio creation.
  • Student Support:
  • Provide support to students throughout their academic journey by addressing concerns and guiding them through the program requirements.
  • Support the placement team with student placements in childcare facilities, ensuring that students gain practical, hands-on experience.
  • Participate in placement site visit to evaluate the students.
  • Monitor student progress and providing necessary supports
  • Faculty Support:
  • Assist in the recruitment, training, and onboarding of faculty for the ECA/ECE program.
  • Collaborate with instructors to ensure that course delivery is engaging, effective, and meets the needs of students.
  • Provide support to faculty in implementing best practices in teaching and learning and coordinate professional development activities.
  • Course Delivery:
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons for ECE/ECA students based on program curriculum and industry standards.
  • Use a variety of teaching methods and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experiences to ensure students gain a comprehensive understanding of child development, early learning, and care.
  • Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards for the ECA/ECE program.
  • Assist in preparing reports, conducting program evaluations, and implementing improvements to enhance program quality.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Build and maintain relationships with local childcare centers, schools, and community organizations for student placement opportunities.
  • Represent the ECA/ECE program at community events, fairs, and outreach activities to promote program awareness.
  • Administrative Support:
  • Assist with the preparation of course materials, scheduling of classes, and management of program-related documentation.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure smooth program operations.

Qualifications:

  • A diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child Development, or a related field.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of ECE.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a childcare or educational setting, preferably in a coordination or supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood Education principles, practices, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office Suite and student information systems.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with curriculum development and instructional design.
  • Familiarity with placement coordination and building relationships with community partners.
  • Passion for supporting the academic and professional growth of students.

Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, with some evening or weekend hours required based on program needs.
  • Ability to travel to local childcare centers and community events as needed
