Job Description
The Survey GIS Technician works with the seismic survey crew and responsible for collecting and processing mapping data for production of paper and digital maps. This is a temporary, seasonal position.

The Survey GIS Technician works with the seismic survey crew and responsible for collecting and processing mapping data for production of paper and digital maps. This is a temporary, seasonal position.

- Collect, organize, process and analyze various vector and raster data;
- Produce paper maps and digital maps;
- Proficient with various types of software including: ESRI products, Global mapper, OZI explorer and Trimble office. Train and work through sample modules to develop skills using this software;
- Prepare client deliverables according to their requirements, ensuring the final data quality meets company standards and client specific formats and accuracies;
- Responsible for quality, procedures and timely execution of all company deliverables;
- Support clients utilizing different software packages, formats, projections, accuracies, etc.
- Produce Metadata files to support client requirements;
- Analyze Lidar data;
- Responsible for training and mentoring Survey GIS Technician l;
- Prepare maps for safety and misc. special projects;
- Responsible for leading and maintaining a safe working environment that is in compliance with all applicable industry related safety regulations as well as all applicable company Health and Safety and Compliance protocols.
- High School diploma or equivalent required;
- 2+years of seismic work experience;
- Valid driver's license;
- H2S Alive, Standard First Aid certifications preferred;
- ATV/UTV training;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Ability to work outdoors in extreme cold and hot environments;
- Ability to walk 7 km’s per day in difficult terrain;
- Strong communication skills;
- Strong work ethic with an ability to work independently and in a team environment as a contributing team player.
