HR Coordinator
Pay Range: $55,000 - $65,000/year
Smythe is seeking a proactive, team-oriented HR Coordinator who is passionate about fostering a positive workplace culture and delivering high-quality HR support to join our People & Culture team of four. As an HR Coordinator, you will support daily HR operations, including onboarding, employee relations, compliance, and other essential HR activities. The Opportunity
This is an exciting role for a dedicated HR Coordinator to make an impact on our People & Culture team. You’ll gain experience across all HR functions, from talent acquisition to employee engagement, while contributing to our firm’s people strategies.
Your Responsibilities
- Onboarding: Coordinate onboarding and orientation processes, ensuring new hires integrate smoothly into the firm.
- Employee Relations: Serve as a reliable point of contact for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies and promoting a positive work environment.
- Employee Engagement: Assist in planning employee engagement initiatives like recognition programs, wellness activities, and employee surveys.
- Performance Management: Assist with coordinating performance review cycles, ensuring timelines and processes are communicated and followed.
- HR Compliance: Maintain compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and company policies. Keep accurate and up-to-date employee records.
- Policy Development: Assist with policy updates and development, aligning HR practices with business objectives.
- HR Systems Management: Support HRIS system maintenance to ensure accurate employee data and efficient HR operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s/diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of HR experience, preferably in a professional services or CPA firm setting.
- Knowledge of HR principles, employment legislation, and best practices.
- Proficiency in HR software and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Discreet and professional in handling confidential information.
- A collaborative, team-focused mindset.
Additional Requirements
- Flexibility to work in-office 3-4 days per week (post-probation).
- Willingness to work additional hours during peak periods.
