Your Opportunity:
This Social Worker III position is a position that works specifically with the Stollery ASSIST (Aid for Symptom of Serious Illness Support Team) Program. This is the interdisciplinary specialized palliative care team at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. The Social Work III working with the ASSIST team would have the opportunity to apply specialized clinical knowledge and advanced clinical skills in the areas of assessment, diagnosis treatment, and evaluation of mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders, and/or conditions. You will have the opportunity to work with the interdisciplinary team specializing in grief and bereavement of families, including anticipatory, child/teen and sibling grief, parental bereavement, and trauma. Psychosocial intervention treatments include but are not limited to counselling and psychotherapy. Treatment modalities include service provision to individuals, couples, families, and groups. They must demonstrate strong leadership ability and have the capacity to perform with a high level of independence.

As a Social Worker III, you will perform either advanced level assessment and treatment or act as a clinical lead. You will work with or within teams to provide health care services for patients with complex and multidimensional medical, psychosocial, environmental and instrumental needs. You will provide advanced clinical services, consultation to the interprofessional team and patients/families and supervision of students and team members as assigned. You may also act as a clinical lead providing leadership in the planning, development, and delivery of services in a specific area, as well as staff development, quality improvement and evaluation or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s).

Required Qualifications:
Master's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Master of Social Work Program. Course work specific to grief and bereavement. Registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers. 5 years' experience as a Social Worker II.
Preferred Qualifications:
Completion of provisional registration requirements preferred. Membership on the ACSW Clinical Registry is an asset. Pediatric experience; experience in grief and bereavement, medical complexity/trauma.
