We are searching for a Privacy Officer to join our West Bedford Transitional Health Team based in Bedford, Nova Scotia.
The transitional care model supports NSH patients/families who require additional time, services, and support to transition back to home/community, by providing an alternate space with intentional programming, building design, and resource allocation to increase the probability of returning to their previous living situation.
The Privacy Officer is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of privacy, health information management, analytics and reporting policies, procedures, and compliance frameworks within Shannex Transitional Health.

About the Opportunity
- Design and implement a privacy office framework, including organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities to ensure effective privacy governance.
- Create policies, procedures, and standards for privacy management, with a focus on unique requirements of Transitional Health.
- Lead as the Privacy Officer for Transitional Health, overseeing all privacy-related matters, including incident management and regulatory reporting.
- Perform privacy impact assessments, audits, and create action plans to address identified vulnerabilities.
- Ensure staff, patients, and families are educated and trained on privacy rights, information protection practices, and the organization's privacy policies.
- Lead the development of change management strategies for the rollout of new privacy policies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Fostering a culture of accountability and transparency in handling health information.
About You
In addition to placing high value on continuous improvement, collaboration and accountability, you bring:
- Degree in Health Information Management, Law, Health Administration, Health Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of ten (10) years experience in managing privacy, specifically as it relates to personal health information.
- Experience providing strategic leadership, developing policy and managing privacy initiatives in a cross functional organization.
- Master's Degree in related field considered an asset.
- Professional privacy or information management certification considered an asset. (e.g. CIPP/C, CHIM, etc.)
- A passion for the healthcare sector and/or ensuring seniors have access to quality accommodations, services and care.
