Overview: We are seeking a skilled Instructional Designer to lead the end-to-end design, development, and delivery of training initiatives for our Asset and Work Management workstream. In this pivotal role, you will collaborate with various stakeholders to identify training needs and create effective learning experiences that facilitate user adoption during our Utility integration and future ERP transformation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with Functional Change Specialists and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to conduct training needs analyses and define stakeholder training requirements.
  • Develop clear learning objectives for training courses and create storyboards for training materials.
  • Recommend and implement appropriate delivery methods for training.
  • Collaborate with SMEs, project leads, and change specialists to design, develop, implement, and evaluate curricula and learning resources that align with program goals and effectively communicate new processes and systems.
  • Create and maintain a Detailed Development Design Plan using the ADDIE model.
  • Manage timelines for SME reviews and input to ensure adherence to development schedules.
  • Conduct quality control reviews of materials created by other instructional designers.
  • Deliver train-the-trainer sessions for business unit trainers to prepare them for training delivery.
  • Provide support during training sessions and adjust materials based on feedback from initial training pilots.
  • Identify and communicate risks, dependencies, and constraints to the Training Lead, along with recommended mitigation strategies.
  • Conduct knowledge transfer and transition activities within the learning organization to support ongoing sustainment.

Scope

  • Responsible for developing and scheduling a comprehensive training program to meet tight deadlines.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Information and Learning Technologies, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in training needs analysis, curriculum design, and the development and evaluation of learning activities for various training formats (web-based, instructor-led, virtual).
  • Familiarity with training material development in Work Management subjects.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning theories, ADDIE principles, and best practices for both online and instructor-led training.
  • Proven ability to design and write effective course materials, assessments, and job aids.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging diverse audiences.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with OCM Leads, change management specialists, SMEs, and training coordinators.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment and take initiative.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ERP projects or large transformation initiatives, particularly involving SAP, Maximo, or Mobile deployments.
  • Knowledge of IBM Maximo systems.
  • Experience in assessing and measuring training needs related to changes in business processes and systems.
  • Understanding of end-user impacts when transitioning to new applications.
  • Proficiency in using Articulate 360 (Storyline and/or Rise), PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Experience creating animated videos using Vyond, conducting screen recordings with Camtasia, and video editing with ClipChamp.

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment with potential for overtime during critical development phases.
  • High-pressure deadlines and visibility require managing multiple competing priorities.
  • Some travel may be required.
