The Edmonton Police Service requires an organized and efficient administrative professional to provide support to the Pay & Benefits Section in its entirety. Responsibilities will include:
40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hour of work program.
Salary Range:
21B, Salary Grade: 007, $23.787 - $29.534 (Hourly), $1,903.00 - $2,362.70 (Bi-Weekly), $49,667.26 - $61,666.99 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
General:
HR Technician: VH
- Acting as the general point for contact for all individuals entering the Pay & Benefits Section.
- Managing the Pay & Benefits group email by answering general inquiries and redirecting emails to the appropriate payroll representative.
- Collecting and distributing daily internal and external mail.
- Creating and managing personnel files as required.
- Preparing employee income verification letters as requested.
- Managing the new hire packages; this includes sending out the initial packages and ensuring all forms are returned and filled out correctly.
- Assisting payroll reps with data entry into PeopleSoft.
- Assisting with creating payroll reports and distributing as required.
- Other duties as required.
- Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects with an emphasis on word and information processing, or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications.
- A minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience.
- Previous payroll experience within a unionized environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PeopleSoft, and the aptitude to learn new software systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create and manipulate spreadsheets, use formulas, and generate reports.
- Data entry experience, with a high degree of accuracy
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and multi-tasking skills are required.
- Able to exercise sound judgment and to maintain respectful and effective working relationships.
- Applicants may be tested.
- As part of your pre-hire screening, you will be required to complete an Enhanced Security Clearance. Should you accept employment with the Edmonton Police Service you acknowledge and agree to participate in future Enhanced Security Re-Clearances at scheduled intervals or in any other circumstances, exigent or otherwise, as required by Human Resources Division.
