Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Indigenous Services Specialist responsible for delivering services directly to First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations. The Indigenous Services disciplines at TWC include services tailored specifically for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations including ecology, human environment (socio-economic, engagement, facilitation), impact assessment, and digital services. Due to the holistic nature of this role, you will be working collaboratively with other specialists throughout the organization.
What You'll Do
- Develop and execute cutting-edge methodologies for research and other projects in collaboration with First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations.
- Oversee and direct technical project activities, providing advice on the collection, management, and use of Indigenous Knowledge.
- Support development and implementation of Indigenous-led assessments.
- Lead business development by identifying opportunities, building strategic relationships, and leading proposal and budget development.
- Support, advise, or facilitate in the delivery of services where First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations are involved to avoid trauma creation while capturing lived experience.
- Mentor team members in technical expertise and consulting skills.
- Support other TWC teams with relations and service delivery for First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations.
- Stay current on relevant legislation and best practices.
- Adhere to quality assurance, confidentiality, safety, and compliance standards.
Qualifications
We welcome applications from candidates who may not meet all the listed qualifications but bring demonstrated environmental consulting experience. You may be considered for intermediate roles, with opportunities for growth and development within our team.
- A bachelor’s degree in anthropology, Indigenous studies, geography, environmental studies, ecology, political science, or sociology. A graduate degree would be an asset.
- Over 15 years of progressive experience, with at least 8 years’ experience working in environmental consulting.
- Proven expertise in designing and applying Indigenous study and social science methodologies.
- Established relationships with First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations.
- Demonstrated experience working on socio-economic and Indigenous Knowledge and use studies with First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of preparing clear and comprehensive technical reports.
- Experience collaborating with proponents, regulators, and First Nation, Métis, and Inuit governments and organizations on large-scale, complex projects would be an asset.
- Familiarity with data collection techniques and relevant technologies.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- A positive, motivated team player who thrives in collaborative environments and is equally capable of working independently under deadlines.
- Proven experience in writing and/or directing proposals and preparing budgets and collaborating with Project Managers to deliver projects on time and on budget.
- Available for occasional to frequent travel throughout Canada.
