Reports directly to the Director, Distribution Truck.

What You Will Do

  • Represent the team who ensures that all disbursements are completed in an accurate and timely manner for the freight coordinated by NPKC wholesale Rail, Truck and Marine teams in North America
  • Match and enter carrier invoices for some truck, rail and marine shipments
  • Compile, prepare and review a weekly freight payment run for all carrier types then route to Accounts Payables for processing
  • Manage routine reporting on team activities and account status’ by consolidating carrier statements, Excel reports from Nutrien systems, and through the use of Microsoft PowerBI Reports
  • Collect documentation for carrier account resolutions (statements, spreadsheets or release inquiries via phone, emails).
  • Conduct analysis in support of negotiated settlements, or to identify challenging/opportunistic areas for resource allocation or process reconsideration. Coordinate initiatives in those areas by with stakeholder groups.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with carrier accounts receivables staff through various communication routines (weekly or monthly calls, routine information and commentary exchange)
  • Influence internal stakeholders who are accountable for invoice review/approval (Rail/Truck/Marine Coordinators or Analysts) or others (IT, Procurement, AP) as required to keep payment processes working efficiently.
  • Serve as the first escalation path on issues the team may have with internal stakeholders or carriers.
  • Drive improvement in team processes that will either increase the accuracy of payments or adhere more closely to invoice payment terms (Net 15, etc.)

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum of a high-school diploma, but post-secondary education would be an asset
  • Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role would be considered an asset, preferably working experience in a transportation/logistics payables function
  • General knowledge of logistics functions would be an asset
  • Strong data and computer skills are required, including SAP data management, MSS/Oracle system but also in Excel, MS Word and PowerPoint
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills are required
  • Capable of working in both a team environment and individually with minimum supervision
  • Self-starter personality with strong communication skills both internally, and with external vendors
  • Adaptable to continuous change; with a mindset of continuing to improve, document, and streamline existing processes within logistics
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with high level ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines

In addition to base pay, this role is also eligible to participate in our annual incentive plan, consistent with the terms of our program(s) where discretionary pay out of awards is reflecting components such as performance of the company and the employee.  Details will be discussed through the application process.
