We are looking for an Energy Scheduler to join our Energy Marketing Desk. About The Energy Marketing Desk
EE’s Energy Marketing Desk is comprised of six Energy Schedulers who come from varied backgrounds including business, finance and engineering. The Desk is responsible for all Day Ahead and Real Time marketing functions on behalf of our external generation clients and EE’s Power Traders. As an Energy Scheduler you will have the opportunity to engage with power markets throughout North America, managing the commercial dispatch for a diverse fleet of facilities and related positions, through collaboration with many other groups at Emera Energy. Power market conditions are perpetually changing so no two shifts on the Energy Marketing Desk are the same and the Energy Scheduler role will appeal to an individual who values variety in an exciting and rewarding business.

The Energy Marketing Desk at Emera Energy is very fast-paced and the ability to thrive under strict hourly deadlines while maintaining close attention to detail is essential. Energy Schedulers must be self-starters who also enjoy a team environment as the group collaborates with colleagues across Emera Energy’s commercial team on an hourly basis. In our 24-hour-a-day business, the flow of information is continuous, and we are looking for a talented communicator who can effectively interpret, evaluate and prioritize information and responsibilities based on urgency and impact.

As An Energy Scheduler You Will
- Ensure accurate and efficient commercial operation, dispatch, and outage management of all merchant power generation under management.
- Complete all scheduling processes associated with interjurisdictional, wheel through and intertie transactions across various North American power markets.
- Purchase and nominate natural gas for generators on several pipelines, continuously evaluating commercial opportunities to optimize fuel position.
- Develop and maintain a superior understanding of the northeast power and gas markets with an emphasis on the commercial operation and scheduling of power assets, associated market rules, regulatory and compliance obligations.
- Assess market fundamentals and indicators in the near term to support strategic decision making.

- The Marketing Desk is staffed 24/7/365 so shift work is required.
