Are you passionate about protecting Alberta’s crops and ensuring the sustainability of our agricultural industry? As an Insect Management Specialist you will be pivotal in designing and implementing programs to monitor and manage insect populations affecting Alberta's agriculture. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading field surveys and data analysis on insect population trends, assessing risks to crops and implementing management strategies.
- Collaborating with researchers, agricultural producers, and industry stakeholders to improve integrated pest management practices.
- Preparing and disseminating detailed reports, presentations, and publications to inform and educate stakeholders on current and emerging insect issues.
- Serving as a subject matter expert, advising policy makers, and supporting pest control projects with innovative solutions and best practices.
- Conducting public outreach programs to promote sustainable insect management and prevention strategies.

Minimum Recruitment Standard:
- Education: Undergraduate degree in agriculture (or related field) and a graduate degree in crop-based entomology, such as an MSc in entomology, integrated pest management or related
- Experience: Minimum of four years of related experience in agricultural pest management.

- Proven skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
- Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel for fieldwork.
- Familiarity with Alberta’s agricultural systems and pest management regulations.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping, statistical analysis, or other relevant software tools.
