This position is located in Patience Lake, Saskatchewan, Canada and is not available for remote work. Nutrien's Patience Lake Mine is located only 10 minutes outside of the city of Saskatoon.

Reporting to the Senior Project Engineer, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects through various life cycle phases from early development of concepts through commissioning and follow up/troubleshooting. You will prepare work scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans for multi-disciple resources, incorporating best practices in safety, cost control, risk analysis and schedule stewardship to ensure the safe, timely completion of projects within budget requirements.

What You Will Do

  • Be accountable for all aspects of the project and maintenance work and have overall accountability for the safety and cost-efficiency of your work.
  • Manage and control projects to ensure that objectives are met in an economical and timely manner, and that applicable standards, procedures and quality control requirements are either developed or met as required.
  • Provide maintenance engineering support to maintain and upgrade Mill facilities, equipment and processes.
  • Be committed to sustaining our safe and positive work environment while having the ability to embrace working side by side with others in a diverse culture.
  • Effectively manage and monitor progress of engineering consultants, contractors and site maintenance staff (if applicable). Develop project ideas into standard deliverable products ready for the stage gate process.
  • Create clear and attainable project objectives in consultation with stakeholders, sponsors, subject matter experts, (SME’s) and the portfolio manager.
  • Create integrated project planning documents, work requests.
  • Identify, communicate, and manage risk associated to the project.
  • Facilitate development of required stage deliverables.
  • Complete financial approval documents (Cost estimates, requisitions, requests for funding).
  • Monitor, communicate and manage project performance and changes with management and stakeholder teams.
  • Perform change management activities for the project as required to ensure the successful implementation.

What You Will Bring

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing heavy industrial projects, including major maintenance projects.
  • Registered as a professional engineer with applicable provincial engineering association.
  • Mechanical, Civil, Process, or Electrical Engineering degree would be considered an asset.
  • Ability to work closely with operation, maintenance, and/or projects in a plant or a field environment.
  • A strong commitment to safety
  • Self-motivated with proven leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organization and time management abilities
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Projects or P6 would all be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Oracle ERP, Nutrien’s Planisware software, or similar stage gate project programs would be considered an asset.
  • PMP or other formal project management training would be considered an asset.
  • Experience with project coordination, construction management, supervision, quality assurance/ control, and procurement are all considered assets.
