Objective of the Role:
To assist the Maintenance Technicians in providing the plant with a high level of maintenance expertise, that ensures departmental downtime, meets Company objectives efficiently and to carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety and legislative guidelines.

Objective of the Role:
To assist the Maintenance Technicians in providing the plant with a high level of maintenance expertise, that ensures departmental downtime, meets Company objectives efficiently and to carry out equipment and building repairs as required, while adhering to quality, safety and legislative guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Complies with the company safety, federal, state and local regulations, plus environmental requirements in performing the following but not limited to;
- Performs all tasks as per recommended job methods, procedures, etc., particularly on the repair installation of production machines, bearings, seals and their alignment.
- Maintenance of RTU filters, belts and general maintenance.
- Carries out preventive maintenance tasks to Production & common areas
- Diagnose complex and common faults of mechanical equipment by inspection and using appropriate tools of preventive maintenance.
- Through familiarity, knowledge and uses of power and hand tools and equipment in a skillful, efficient manner, maintaining them in clean operating condition. Uses hand and power tools to build, buggies, carts, airlines, castors and rails.
- Replacement of solenoids, motors, pumps and gearboxes.
- Inspect equipment to ensure all safeguarding is in place and functional, including safety sensors, limit switches and photo-eyes.
- Electrical knowledge to replace lamps, ballasts and familiarity with thermostats and sensors.
- Plans and organizes all aspects of work and job assignments, in an efficient and productive way.
- Maintains work areas in clean and safe conditions, removing all waste on completion of job, or earlier if necessary.
- Reports all defects, errors in production, and machines which may affect the workplace to the Maintenance Supervisor/Operations Manager
- Performs and assists on other maintenance duties as required.
- Work closely with contractors and oversees activities as required. Provides resource support as required.
- Completes tasks at the request of the Maintenance Manager/Operations Manager
- Maintains prompt and courteous response to production team requests within the guidelines set forth by Sunrise Poultry, Lethbridge.
- Experience in millwright, welding, 5th class power engineering
- Must Perform Overtime, Weekend work and On-Call/Support as required.
- Shift Work as required.
- Grade 12 education mandatory.
- Have 1 to 3 years related experience.
- Experience in a Food Processing Plant an asset.
- Experience with Live Animals and proper care and handling.
- Be success-driven and have a “can do” attitude.
- Be able to work independently, as well as being a strong team player.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Have a good safety record.
- Flexible and adaptable in ever-changing environments.
- Basic welding
- Welding ticket/experience is an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude
