THE OPPORTUNITY
Our client offers a unique opportunity for seasoned Senior Electrical Engineering Technologists to contribute their expertise and finesse to a diverse range of projects. They are currently seeking an individual who possesses a deep understanding of power systems and are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and client satisfaction. This role will have various responsibilities, from meticulously maintaining and repairing low, medium, and high voltage equipment to spearheading the commissioning and start-up processes associated with electrical power systems. Acting as a liaison with subcontractors and clients, they will cultivate robust customer relationships while ensuring project execution aligns seamlessly with company and client standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Senior Electrical Engineering Technologist, you will work safely and collaboratively and are responsible for:
Installation Precision:
- Ensure the accuracy of installations through meticulous inspection, testing, and other quality control measures before bringing systems or equipment online.
Documentation Excellence:
- Prepare formal documentation related to testing and commissioning processes. Clear and concise records are essential for successful projects.
- Ensure completion of technical reports and test sheets.
Field Support:
- Provide hands-on field support, including start up of systems and equipment, performing testing, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Perform maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of low, medium, and high voltage equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
- Commissioning and start-up of low, medium, and high voltage equipment and apparatus associated with an electrical power system.
Complex Problem Solving:
- Support electrical aspects of projects by diagnosing and solving complex technical problems. Your expertise ensures seamless execution.
Technical Consultation and Advancements:
- Offer technical consultation and training to clients. Stay informed about testing technologies and industry advancements. Identify opportunities for system enhancements.
- Act as liaison with subcontractors and clients, develop customer service relationships.
Leadership
- Supervise/lead projects to ensure successful project execution according to company and Client standards.
- Provide mentorship to junior technologists and support to team members.
Safety
- Conduct work in a manner prescribed by our Client’s Occupational Health, Safety & Environmental Manual and in alignment with project and site EHS policies.
QUALIFICATIONS
As the Senior Electrical Engineering Technologist, you will bring:
- Diploma from recognized Electrical Engineering Technology Program.
- Registration with applicable professional association in good standing.
- AScT certification, either completed or in progress.
- At least 5 years of field work experience in a similar role including work in substations.
- Experience with AutoCAD and drafting is an asset but not required.
- Experience with testing equipment (Omicron, Doble, etc.) & relay testing with various equipment (SEL, GE, Siemens, ABB, etc.).
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite to write technical reports.
- Ability to understand and perform technically complex calculations.
- Strong knowledge of drawings (wiring, schematic, and layout).
- Client-service and relationship-oriented approach to work.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a dynamic setting.
- Willingness and ability to travel as a major part of the role and remain at project sites as required.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence and clean driver’s abstract.
- Legally entitled to work in Canada without sponsorship or limitation.
