CGI Edmonton is searching for a Senior Business Analyst to learn our clients’ business in depth, provide business solutions to meet documented requirements, lead and deliver components of application releases, provide absence coverage, and contribute to other activities in applications operations. Additionally, this role will participate in workshops, document requirements, work with multiple domain specialists, understand the overall program objectives, and meet planned schedules.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Perform business analyst tasks across the project lifecycle: requirements, design, build, test, implement and post-production support
  • Gather, analyze, understand and communicate business needs to technical teams
  • Provide liaison between vendor technical teams and internal business teams
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct user acceptance testing of fixes and enhancements, perform testing activities as required
  • Develop requirements specifications, conduct feasibility studies, produce high-level and detailed business models, prepare business cases, oversee development of and implement solutions, considering all implications to systems
  • Employ deep and broad technical skills to analyze sophisticated business processes and problems; identify alternative solutions, assess feasibility and recommend innovative approaches, typically seeking to exploit technology components and / or assisting clients to understand gaps in business functions/processes typically served by technology
  • Facilitate sessions / workshops with business users to acquire requirements for systems to be developed and / or maintained
  • Facilitate workshops for requirements development and clarification
  • Document new requirements and find opportunities for applying more efficient and effective solutions
  • Provide advice to business users for development and integration of process and information model improvements
  • Translate business requirements into system specifications
  • Identify and recommend new processes and organizational structures to support new systems to be developed and implemented
  • Develop and/or contribute to user manuals, training materials and acceptance testing planning and execution
  • Experience with various ticketing or workflow tools
  • Experience with clinical integrated systems / data exchanges
  • Experience with the health sector is required
  • Experience working with healthcare stakeholders is required
  • Understanding of clinical systems (for example, electronic medical records, electronic health records) and workflows

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

  • 8+ years' experience as a Senior IT Business Analyst, managing and coordinating business activities and working as a facilitator in a team environment
  • Experience working on application development projects in complex healthcare IT environments required
  • Proven hands-on experience facilitating high-level and detailed business requirements interviews and workshops to develop business requirements, functional specifications, workflows, use cases, user stories, and other business analysis artifacts
  • Experience using data and process modelling software tools and proficiency in Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN)
  • Experience conducting and facilitating workshops with the ability to communicate in both technical and non-technical areas
  • Solid business case development skills
  • Experience preparing and documenting business models, rules and requirements
  • Experience testing software; including test planning, execution, and reporting
  • Experience working with senior management and operational staff

Education qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a focus on Information Technology and/or relevant field or equivalent work experience
  • Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), Certification of Competency in Business Analysis (CCBA), Project Management Professional (PMP), and other relevant certifications and/or training are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in UML, BPMN, Swimlane process flow, Visio, Jira, and other relevant tools used in business analysis are highly desirable.
