Role Responsibilities
The Director, Executive Operations reports to the Deputy Minister (DM) and is the main point of contact for the Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO). The Director acts as the liaison and key resource for strategic support, advice, and assistance to ministry staff, the Minister’s Office (MO) and Minister’s Chief of Staff, Executive Council, and other ministry DMOs.

Qualifications
Required: University graduation in a field related to the position assignment, supplemented by seven years related experience. Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

This position is a permanent position with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).

- Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal
Role Responsibilities
The Director, Executive Operations reports to the Deputy Minister (DM) and is the main point of contact for the Deputy Minister’s Office (DMO). The Director acts as the liaison and key resource for strategic support, advice, and assistance to ministry staff, the Minister’s Office (MO) and Minister’s Chief of Staff, Executive Council, and other ministry DMOs.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate the development and implementation of ministry mandates, initiatives, and projects to enhance ministry operations.
- Advise on policy and legislative processes, ensuring alignment with ministry priorities.
- Participate as an Executive Team member to identify trends, challenges, and opportunities, fostering innovative solutions for the ministry’s mandate.
- Support the Deputy Minister in achieving ministry goals and operations.
- Provide recommendations on business, operational planning, and policy development.
- Conduct strategic analysis to keep the Deputy Minister informed on issues, trends, and political sensitivities.
- Establish and oversee strategies for effective issues management.
- Lead the development of issues management strategies for coordinated ministry-wide responses.
- Implement processes to improve communication between the Deputy Minister’s Office, Ministry offices, and stakeholders.
- Oversee the operations of the Deputy Minister’s Office.
- Lead and support staff in the Deputy Minister's Office and Executive Correspondence Unit.
- Ensure quality and accuracy in action request responses, considering political sensitivities and alignment with department policies.

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
- Eight years of progressively responsible experience in issues management in a public sector organization.
- Experience with political/public service environment and knowledge of GOA policy development cycle, decision-making process, and legislative procedures, as well as legislative agendas, priorities of other governments and their likely impact on Alberta priorities.
- Experience with identifying key issues, including legal implications, risks, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Experience giving advice, including deep understanding of the importance of defining the problem, developing solutions, and analyzing the solutions so that robust decision-making can occur.
- Experience working in a multifaceted, fast-paced environment, using well developed verbal and written communication skills in the transfer of information to inform and influence executives and senior officials.
- Strong change management, project management, and organizational skills, including managing a number of complex issues simultaneously and still delivering on results.
- Knowledge of Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation, policies, and procedures.
