Cameco's climate change team within the corporate safety, health, environment, quality, and regulatory relations department is focused on supporting the reduction of operational and value chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions; proactively managing climate-related risks and opportunities relevant to our operations and value chain; preparing and communicating climate action reports and information; and engaging on climate-related policy and regulation. Cameco is committed to continually improving our climate action performance.


This is a temporary 12-month position.


In this role, you will:

  • Assist in and/or lead climate-related physical risk management and adaptation assessments and organizational engagement activities.
  • Analyze and interpret physical and transition climate risk data and scenarios, support the development, implementation, and management of operational and value chain and adaptation plans.
  • Analyze and interpret environmental, social and governance (ESG) voluntary and regulatory reporting requirements, highlighting changes for senior staff.
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of Cameco’s ESG and climate action data, identify opportunities to continuously improve internal and external reporting based on changing disclosure rules and trends.
  • Analyze and interpret the impacts of proposed and existing climate-related policy and regulation directly with various levels of government and/or indirectly via industry association participation.
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally with internal groups and individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds and disciplines.
  • Support in the prioritization, leadership, and implementation of climate action and/or climate risk management and adaptation projects.
  • Assist in the development of materials to support Cameco’s climate action reporting and disclosure requirements for internal and external audience as needed
  • Effectively communicate complex climate change projection data, develop capacity building tools where required.
  • Support continued development and implementation of climate risk management and adaptation procedures, processes, and work instructions in alignment with Cameco’s management document system, risk management program, and relevant industry best practices


Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant applied science, engineering, environmental, risk, policy or business field
  • Three or more years of relevant experience (e.g., climate change, climate risk management and/or adaptation, ESG/sustainability reporting as well as climate-related policy/regulation)
  • Strong communication, collaboration, project management, and data analytics skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 programs (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, Outlook)


Recommended:

  • Previous experience in the mining or nuclear industry
  • Applicable professional designation (e.g., project management professional, ESG reporting, climate risk and/or sustainability certification or certification in-progress)
  • Familiarity with Canadian and Saskatchewan regulations governing climate action
  • Knowledge of globally recognized climate-related disclosure and reporting requirements (e.g., International Sustainability Standards Board, Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures, Global Reporting Initiative, CDP, Canadian Securities Administrators)
