What will you do?

Salary Range: $51.171 - $65.301 (Hourly); $90,150.51 - $115,044.04 (Annually)

What will you do?
- Work with internal and external stakeholders and advising groups to identify, create and promote opportunities for civic and community engagement
- Provide expertise locally, nationally and internationally on best practices, policies, and implementation of design and winter supports as well as cross-City collaboration on a variety of issues
- Review and analyze projects, plans, and new or revised policies in relation to aspects of City work that are impacted by winter, to determine degree of consistency and appropriateness
- Design, develop, apply and enhance planning information - with particular focus to winter design - to support neighbourhood planning, land use and development activities analysis, and specialized research
- Manages the WinterCity website as well as social media content development and contracting for X/Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This includes contract management, overseeing contractors and assisting with content development
- Develop and apply forecasting and analysis models where appropriate
- Develop and implement analytical techniques for portfolios within the role, while ensuring appropriate, relevant research is conducted
- Design, implement and evaluate planning projects for WinterCity and Emerging Economy, including developing and administering project schedules, activities, timelines, costs, production and other processes
- Respond to project inquiries of a sensitive or complex nature from council, senior administration, general public, developers and contractors
- Oversee the implementation of WinterCity and various Emerging Economy strategy programs and projects, including developing an annual budget, monitoring expenditures, and providing strategic oversight
- Respond to requests for support from other City of Edmonton business areas
- Plan and host meetings directly related to strategy implementation
- Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning or a degree related to the functions specific to the position
- Minimum of four (4) years’ progressively responsible related experience in areas including public policy implementation, economic development, policy and program development, grant administration, business development, community planning, recreation and/or community-based programs
- Knowledge and experience in the principles and practices involved in project management and economic development
- Broad and demonstrated experience in handling projects or areas of specialization that are complex, highly sensitive and that have significant future impact
- Knowledge of standard statistical techniques and research methodology
- Knowledge of urban design, land use planning and control and/or other identified areas of specialization including principles and practices of winter city planning, winter maintenance issues, and leading practices for winter urban design
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as necessitated by work assignments, including ability to analyze and resolve areas of conflict as appropriate to this position
- Excellent communication, customer service, interpersonal, presentation, time management and organizational skills
- Working knowledge of Google suite and apps
