After all, laboratory tests and results can provide critical information to diagnosing, maintaining, or improving health. Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) is looking for someone like you for the role of Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) I. From procurement to performing lab processes and procedures safely, efficiently, and effectively, while ensuring all lab data is correctly and accurately recorded and communicated. APL is the wholly owned subsidiary of Alberta Health Services and is ready to deliver high-quality, responsive diagnostic lab services to Albertans as a part of the provincial healthcare system. Description
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner. You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications
Excellent phlebotomy skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a hospital setting. Experience collecting macro and micro blood samples. Proficient computer skills with knowledge of Laboratory Information Systems.
