This role offers the opportunity to lead and innovate within Manulife’s Group Finance Actuarial (GFA) area, specifically in the Reporting, Process, and Change (RPC) team. You will contribute to our mission by designing and implementing automated actuarial reporting processes that adhere to IFRS17 standards, collaborating with various functions to support financial reporting and business growth objectives. In this position, you’ll gain diverse experience in actuarial reporting, work on ad-hoc projects, and engage with professionals across the company.

Position Responsibilities

  • Design and implement automated technology-based solutions to meet financial reporting requirements for each business unit.
  • Prepare technical documentation in tandem with application development.
  • Support Moody’s AXIS and Risk Integrity (RI) upgrades and test implications for automated valuation reporting processes.
  • Maintain and update Reserve Movement Analysis (RMA) driver files and RI driver files.
  • Support the IFRS17 system Qlik DOE project and maintain corresponding driver files.
  • Provide expert support and resolve issues during both testing phases and urgent quarter-end reporting periods.
  • Create procedural documentation and provide training to end-users and other key stakeholders.
  • Establish close and collaborative partnerships with other teams, sharing expertise and learnings throughout development, testing, and maintenance phases.

Required Qualifications

  • Actuarial designation (FSA / FCIA) with 7 years of work experience in the life insurance industry.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong technical skills, including programming or scripting experience, with knowledge of Qlik/Power BI/AXIS being an asset.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, capable of presenting technical issues to senior management.
  • Knowledge of IFRS 17 financial reporting requirements.
  • Knowledge of actuarial systems and reporting processes.
  • Detail-oriented with a Think Big mindset.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams, building relationships and influencing others.
  • Ability to navigate through ambiguity and manage complex tasks to deliver timely results.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Qlik, Power BI, or AXIS.

Salary range is expected to be between

$84,375.00 CAD - $151,875.00 CAD
