As a DE&I Associate, you will support the Manager, DEI in developing and delivering multi-year DEI action plans that include goals and accountabilities. You will work closely with colleagues in HR, Mi’kmaq Relations, and Communications, as well as Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and DEI subcommittees across the business. The DEI team is small but crucial in amplifying the voices of our employees and communities, building awareness and understanding about inclusive leadership and employment, and embedding the principles of inclusiveness and workforce diversity in all aspects of the employee experience.

Key Elements Of This Role Include
- DEI administration and process: Draft process, planning, and reference documents that support the DEI community internally (ERGs, DEI Committees, etc.), and support with logistics and preparation for DEI events.
- DEI Strategy Support: Assist in the implementation of DEI strategies and action plans.
- Workshops and Presentations: Support with the planning and delivery of DEI workshops, presentations, and educational programs across the organization and participate in community outreach activities.
- Psychological Safety: Support with building a culture of psychological safety that inspires all voices to be heard.
- Continuous Improvement: Focus on and identify continuous improvement opportunities.
- Data Analysis: Track, evaluate, and draft reports on the effectiveness of DEI activities by collecting and analyzing data and identifying barriers or issues when they arise.
- Any additional duties as assigned.
These skills will make you successful:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Social Studies, Law, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in DEI, HR, administration or project management.
- Proven experience in supporting DEI initiatives and action plans.
- A combination of education and lived experience will also meet these qualifications.
- Strong knowledge of DEI practices, intersectionality, and issues facing equity-deserving communities in Nova Scotia.
- Excellent organizational, data management, planning, and coordination skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent policy and process development skills.
- Ability to support the implementation of strategic DEI initiatives.
- Ability to assess complex DEI data and draw meaningful insights.
- Ability to understand, respect, and respond to diverse perspectives and fostering an inclusive environment.
