About Our Operation

The Support and Development Center provide services to Agnico Eagle's various Canadian and / or international mining operations in a variety of areas, including administration, financial services, IT, supply chain, human resources, communications, construction as well as technical services (geology, engineering, metallurgy, infrastructure, marketing, innovation, and digital transformation).

Your Next Challenge

You will report to the Director Business Optimization and provides knowledge and expertise in your specific field of expertise as well as in broader business and technical areas. You will be called upon to help identify and evaluate new operational scenarios that add significant value to deposits and their exploitation, with the aim of improving the organization's financial parameters and market value.

As Mining Engineer Advisor, you will be responsible for analyzing and reviewing projects and operations in your area of expertise and contribute on other technical disciplines. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve life of mine scenarios and develop operational concepts that will increase the company's value. Your tasks will include analyzing data, developing optimization scenarios, and finding innovative solutions to maximize the profitability, sustainability and longevity of our operations. You will actively participate in initiatives of transformation that aim at optimizing geological, mining, metallurgical and environmental aspects of operations.

You will also be called upon to support Project Evaluation, Business Strategic Group and Innovation, when required.

Your Next Challenges

• Design scenarios/concepts to improve operational efficiency, increase profitability and contribute to achieving corporate financial (ratio) and material (MRMR) targets.
• Identify high-value re-engineering areas to optimize mine plans and operational methodologies.
• Carry out detailed review of existing mine life scenarios to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Ensure that selected scenarios/concepts contribute to the enhancement of Agnico Eagle's value.
• Contribute to the development of opportunity studies from exploration to closure.
• Identify areas where the analysis of technical data could lead to improved financial performance.
• Develop strategic and tactical recommendations based on analysis of operational data.
• Act as an internal reference for activities related to his/her discipline when required.
• Develop innovative ideas to improve our pre- and post-operational assets.
• Incorporate best practices and emerging technologies.
  
  

This role requires a broad understanding of geology, geotechnics, mining, metallurgy and environment. It requires strong process analysis and cross-functional communication skills. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in mining fields and in economical study. The candidate will have to demonstrate his ability to generate new ideas to design alternative scenarios.

What You Need To Succeed

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mining engineering.
• Several years of experience in mining operations or consulting.
• Over 15 years of experience in the mining industry.
• Advanced knowledge of mining operations and the financial aspects of the industry.
• Ability to run scenarios analysis and economical study.
• Generate innovative ideas and develop concepts.
• Excellent record keeping, as well as written and verbal communication skills.
• Fluency in spoken and written French is an asset.
• Proficiency in the use of the English language as you will be working in collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary language.
  
  

Qualification

• Team spirit and good communication skills.
• Good analytical and synthesis skills.
• Extensive and varied experiences in mining method including block caving.
• Strong competences in economic study and ability to run multiple economical scenarios.
• Capability to identify and evaluate mining OPEX cost required for study.
• Aggregate information from all disciplinaries and interpreting relation and impacts in scenarios.
• Assemble high quality presentation for high management.
• Understand MSO and all parameters that can influencing resources.
• Review and proposed new parameters to run new scenarios in Deswik or Datamine.
• Confidence in dealing with senior technical and non-technical personnel.
  
  

Your Work Schedule

• Schedule: 40 hours per week, from Monday to Friday.
• Workplace: Possibility to work in one of AEM's offices closer to your residence in Rouyn-Noranda, Val-d'Or, Mirabel or Toronto. There is a possibility to have a hybrid work schedule, working some days from an AEM office and some days in telecommuting.
