The Edmonton Election is a large-scale, complex, highly legislated civic project that is held every four years, featuring tight timelines and a broad range of stakeholders. It is a project that requires agility, precision, and dedication, offering a unique opportunity to contribute to a process that enables Edmontonians to vote for Mayor, Council, and Edmonton Public or Edmonton Catholic school board trustees.
Reporting directly to the Information Systems and Election Technology Lead, you’ll be a key player in technology operations. Your responsibilities will include receiving, configuring, testing and deploying devices used in the voting stations, such as tablets and laptops, including optimal set-up and configuration for a secure and transparent election. Additionally, you’ll lend a hand to our systems developers by providing essential administrative support contributing to the overall efficiency of our technology infrastructure.

Salary Range: $46.149 - $58.155 (Hourly)

What will you do?
- Coordinate work to receive, configure, test and deploy devices (tablets, laptops, etc.) used in the voting stations and to install, configure, test and integrate election related software (ELMS, Permanent Electors Register, etc.) and peripherals
- Develop, document and implement configuration scripts, test plans and audit procedures for a variety of Election Technology devices Provide support to Election staff for Election systems, including extended support (evenings and weekends) during key election activities (e.g. nomination day, voting days, etc.)
- Assist the Election System Developers with work to build, install, configure, test and deploy election administration solutions and ensure system readiness to meet business requirements and projected timelines
- Assist the Data Integration Analyst with the coordination of various internal and external partners to ensure accurate election information (maps, electors registry, candidate lists, results) is available in a timely manner via appropriate channels (internal applications, website, Open Data portal, media news feeds)
- Assist the Data Integration Analyst with the designing, building, testing and implementation of small applications or procedures using a variety of tools to access information from other systems, merge data sets, or distribute information in different formats (CSV, XLS, XML, SHP, JSON, etc.)
- Liaise with numerous Internal Business Support Teams to ensure the unique service requirements of the election project are met, sometimes using creative solutions and non-standard methods to achieve critical business outcomes
- Degree in Computer Sciences, Computer Engineering, Applied Information Systems Technology or a related discipline and 1 years relevant experience in software deployment and support
- OR Post secondary diploma in a related discipline and 2 years relevant experience in software deployment and support
- OR 1 year related certificate and 4 years relevant experience in software deployment and support
- Experience in technical fields of
- Hardware configuration and deployment
- Software installation and support
- IT Networks and Security
- Integration of new technologies
- Wireless communications (data and voice)
- Valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) or operators licensing equivalent
- Exceptional organizational and technical skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Able to explain highly technical concepts to non-technical business users
- Able to articulate very specific business requirements to technical support resources
- Analytical, diagnostic, project and research skills
- Detail-oriented process documentation and auditing
- Able to build and maintain strong working relationships
- Prioritization, time management and organizational skills
- Able to work under pressure and meet strict timelines

- Note : This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with the flexibility to work from both home and the worksite as per the Letter of Understanding between the City of Edmonton and Civic Service Union 52.
- The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.
- Possible Evening and Weekend Work. Availability to work evenings and weekends may be required during peak periods to ensure operational efficiency and meet business demands
