Department Summary

Through human resource management expertise, the Maximus Canada Human Resources (HR) team provides guidance to leadership and employees across the organization, manages various programs and initiatives and supports the strategic objectives and operational goals of the business. Daily functions of the HR team include the full recruitment cycle, employer-employee relations, and onboarding.


Position Summary (18 Month Term Position)

The human Resources Generalist undertakes various HR tasks, including organizing training, administering employee benefits and leaves, supporting recruitment, onboarding and orientation, and working with employees and leaders on various HR issues. Along with the day-to-day operations, the Human Resources Generalist will also be responsible for executing multiple projects and initiatives to support the organization and the human resources team.



Your typical week at Maximus


General HR Services

  • Must possess excellent judgment, analytical and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously
  • Ability to work well independently, under time pressure with frequent time deadlines
  • Monitors, track and responds to employee inquiries (email, phone, etc)
  • Provide support to employees and managers on various HR-related topics and work to resolve any issues that may arise
  • Maintains HR Sharepoint site to ensure HR relevant materials are up to date and posted and are easily accessible to employees
  • Seeks to identify opportunities for self-service and automation
  • Ensuring human resources records are accurate, confidential and reported on in a timely manner in the HRIS system
  • Supports the design, implementation and ongoing delivery of Human Resource programs and initiatives
  • Identifies and supports Employee Engagement opportunities


Recruitment

  • Assist in the full life-cycle of the recruitment process
  • Builds strong relationships with internal leaders to understand their current and future hiring needs
  • Work with various colleges and universities to establish co-op opportunities and ongoing relationships
  • Working with communications and marketing, expanding our presence on social media and job boards, creatively mapping out talent pools and promoting opportunities. ' i.e. LinkedIn
  • Conduct in-depth candidate screenings via MS Teams


Onboarding

  • Assist with the development and administration of Orientation and Onboarding materials.
  • Continually seek opportunities to optimize and upgrade the onboarding process.
  • Working with the Learning and Development team to update onboarding materials as needed


Employee Engagement and Culture

  • Administer and assist with the annual Global Employee Engagement Survey
  • Administer and Assist with the planning and administration of the Annual Performance and Development planning
  • Administer and assist with the Organizational Development programs
  • Continually seek opportunities for engagement and culture activities and programs

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities


  • Highly proficient in using MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint
  • Knowledge of HRIS systems, such as ADP WorkforceNow
  • Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems, such as Avature
  • Detail oriented and accurate in execution, with the ability to work well under pressure and work independently
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and regulations, including the Employment Standards Act and Human Rights Legislation
  • Results oriented professional with strong time-management, analytical, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment.
  • Successful in managing multiple projects and competing priorities, able to allocate time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships



Education and Experience


  • Completion of a Human Resources Management degree/diploma or other related education
  • 3-5 years experience working in the Human Resources field
  • 1-3 years of experience working in a unionized environment preferred
  • HR Designation, such as CPHR, is an asset


Other

Must be able to pass a Criminal Record Check
