The New 85-million-dollar Misericordia (MCH) ED opened in November 2023, is a large urban ED within Edmonton, open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Located next to West Edmonton Mall (WEM) and the future valley line west LRT expansion. Description:
Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Emergency experience required (Note: Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered). This position requires you be on your feet for an extended period (walking and standing), and you must be able to assist in transporting, lifting and positioning of patients. You will also be required to bend, lift, push, and pull.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced practice courses (ACLS, PALS, etc.) preferred. Intravenous (IV) certification preferred (required upon hire). Connect Care EHR/ EPIC and ENPEP training preferred (required upon hire). CLPNA Restricted Activities Modules: Administering Diagnostic Imaging Contrast Agents, Fetal Heart Monitoring, Non-Ionizing Radiation, Administering Blood and Blood Products: Transfusion, Dispending of Medications and Immunization preferred (required upon hire).
