JOB STATEMENT  

 

The Event Specialist will create and lead the webinar and events plan for Business Link. You will be responsible for providing relevant and engaging content for small business owners across Alberta. You will collaborate with clients, consultants, industry speakers, partners, and sponsors while overseeing the entire event process—from initial planning to execution.

 

You are a highly organized and motivated individual who loves planning ahead and keeping tasks on track. You’re excited about events, an exceptional communicator, and work well within a team. This position contributes to driving event and webinar registrations, attendees, and qualified leads.

 

Ideally, you describe yourself as a driven, solutions-oriented team player. This position reports to the Director, Marketing and Communications, and works collaboratively with Marketing, Client Services, and external partners to implement the events plan.

 

This role will require occasional travel locally within the Edmonton and Calgary areas, and other locations in Alberta. It will also require flexibility to work occasional events during weekends and evenings.

 

ROLE COMPONENTS

 

  • Develop and implement annual webinar and event programs.
  • Schedule, implement, and attend webinars and events.
  • Align webinar and event content with Business Link’s marketing plan and the needs of small business owners.
  • Coordinate webinar and event logistics with contractors and vendors.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners and speakers that can elevate and expand the events program.
  • Collaborate with marketing to promote webinars and events and support other marketing functions.
  • Coordinate and implement annual plans for partner event sponsorships.
  • Present on behalf of Business Link to clients or external partners.
  • Support budget planning, tracking, and reconciliation for events and webinars.
  • Regularly report and evaluate the effectiveness of programs while optimizing for results.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders regarding webinar and event execution and track relevant logistical details.
  • Understand the competitive landscape and seek out opportunities to differentiate and complement the events program to align with our brand, themes, and goals.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while planning 3-5 months ahead.
  • Drive innovative, creative thinking - testing and trying new methods and technology to keep programs fresh and vibrant.

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

 

  • Post-secondary degree, or diploma, in business, marketing, communications, or event planning, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Experience coordinating projects with stakeholders or clients.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Strong team player with experience collaborating with diverse teams.
  • Exceptional organization and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented with the ability to quickly adapt under pressure.
  • Experience making data-driven decisions and providing actionable insights.
  • Detail-oriented and can perform tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Passion for learning new marketing applications and systems and exploring innovative ways to improve processes and streamline workflows using technology.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a positive attitude and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft platforms (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint)
  • Experience using Zoom and CRMs.
