Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Product Lifecycle Assessment, this position will be a key resource in developing, implementing, and executing Nutrien’s product lifecycle assessment (LCA) program. This position will collaborate with external consultants, sites, and internal subject matter experts (SME) to develop internal processes and controls, develop and maintain LCA models, conduct LCA on priority products and sites, and coordinate the internal/external certification and assurance process.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with and support external consultant to develop internal LCA protocol, process, model, tools and documentation to enable Nutrien to be self-sufficient in executing LCA program across sites.
  • Collaborate with sites and subject matter experts to complete project lifecycle assessments (LCA) for priority sites and products (covering emissions, energy, water and waste) in line with required protocols.
  • Develop and maintain internal LCA processes and controls that will ensure accuracy, consistency, and repeatability, and enable external certification/assurance.
  • Collaborate with Information Technology to identify and develop data and information management solutions to support LCA.
  • Support internal/external certification and assurance process.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (including Legal, Product Stewardship, and Sales) to ensure consistent and appropriate external communication of LCA results.
  • Support/develop responses to internal and external LCA information requests.
  • Trouble shoot and support site/facility provision of LCA information.

What You Will Bring

  • University degree in engineering, science, and/or accounting.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong collaboration skills (at different levels, both internal and external).
  • Knowledge of industrial chemical manufacturing processes (Nitrogen, Phosphate, Potash).
  • Understanding of, and ability to follow technical diagrams (P&ID, PFD).
  • Ability to develop complex mass and energy balances.
  • Experience conducting product Life Cycle Analysis (LCA).
  • Knowledge of ISO 14000 (including 14025, 14040, 14044, 14064, 14067, 14071).
  • Knowledge of ESG accounting, regulations and reporting frameworks (e.g. GHG protocol, SASB, TCFD, ISSB, CSA, SEC, CBAM).
  • Knowledge of product certification processes (e.g. ISCC+, Certifhy).
  • Ability to understand/interpret reporting needs to identify data requirements, develop/work through complex calculations, and be able to successfully communicate this to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft suite (including Word, PowerPoint, Visio, and advanced Excel skills).
  • Experience with data management systems and/or tools (SAP, HANA, Microsoft Power Query).
  • Experience with lifecycle analysis software (e.g. GREET, OpenLCA, SimaPro, Gabi).
  • Familiarity with LCA emission factor databases (e.g. Ecoinvent).
  • ACLCA Certified Practitioner considered beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
