Introduction

Brunel is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to join our client in their Vancouver or Calgary office. As a senior member of the mechanical team, you will supervise and coordinate the delivery of multidiscipline engineering design.

Responsibilities

• Deliver mechanical engineering design according to required timeframes and standards by supervising the performance of mechanical engineers, reviewing deliverables, and providing high-level technical expertise.
• Facilitate the purchase of appropriate equipment by specifying requirements and assisting procurement with the purchase of equipment.
• Contribute to the cost-efficient delivery of mechanical engineering by managing the man-hour budget, reviewing and approving mechanical capital cost estimates, and recommending alternative approaches where possible.
• Assist in the development and review of relevant mechanical contracts by providing advice and input as required.
• Issue drawings and other relevant information for construction by collaborating with engineers and designers.
• Motivate engineers and other project team members towards superior performance by supporting daily activities and providing ongoing mentoring and training.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design engineering experience in a relevant industry, such as mining, mineral processing, or materials handling, with a focus on gold and copper.
• Ability to resolve technical issues efficiently using personal knowledge, external consultants, and in-house experience.
• Proficient in CAD and 3-D software, along with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of multi-discipline engineering principles.
• Strong commitment to mentoring and coaching personnel.
• Proven ability to manage, motivate, and influence employees at all levels.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks effectively for the design team and manage time efficiently.
