Finance Clerks are members of the Nova Scotia Government and General Employees Union, Local 53 (NSGEU). The NSGEU collective agreement can be accessed by clicking HERE .
The Finance Clerk - Accounting and Purchasing is responsible for performing various tasks to support the accounting and purchasing roles for the Financial Services Department. The Finance Clerk-Accounting and Purchasing will work as part of a team and utilize SAP to perform accurate balancing processes, perform purchasing card duties and produce the necessary reports and reconciliations required to support the efficient operation of the Financial Services Department. Working collaboratively within the Department, the Finance Clerk - Accounting and Purchasing reports directly to the Supervisor, Accounting and Purchasing.
Qualifications:
(a) Recognized business diploma or the equivalent obtained through training and experience;
(b) Minimum two (2) years' experience in an accounting and purchasing environment including the operation of an advanced accounting system, spreadsheets, word processing and the Internet;
(c) Experience with SAP considered an asset.
Rate of Pay:
This is an NSGEU position on the SC4 scale with a starting hourly rate of $25.99. Rates are based on a five (5) step scale with step increases occurring annually in accordance with the Collective Agreement as shown below.

Hours of Work:
Seven (7) hours per day (excluding lunch) totalling 35 hours per week, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Finance Clerks are entitled to an unpaid lunch break of at least one-half (1/2) hour and up to one (1) hour to be scheduled in consultation with the immediate supervisor.
