RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

The research lab of Dr. Ariane Marelli’s is a scientific group based at the Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI MUHC). The team is specialized in conducting epidemiological and clinical studies in the field of congenital heart disease. The lab has a pan-Canadian database with nearly 500,000 patients, a provincial database with more than 130,000 patients, and clinical databases with ongoing clinical data collection. The Marelli_Lab is looking for a data scientist who has experience in managing large datasets and is interested in participating in the lab’s research activities.

General Duties

Under the supervision of Dr. Marelli, the incumbent will perform the following tasks:

  • Carry out administrative database application and updating,
  • Achieve technical work related to data management and validation,
  • Provide technical support to the research team,
  • Conduct data harmonization across different databases,
  • Develop standard operating procedures and scientific reports for managing databases,
  • Conduct data analysis,
  • Validate data,
  • Submit data applications for administrative databases,
  • Evaluate the data harmonization potential.
  • Manage and process data,
  • Conduct quality control tests on the data.
  • Prepare data for analysis,
  • Participate in the development of tools and methods for data and metadata management and harmonization.

Education / Experience

Education: Master's Degree

Field of Study: biostatistics, epidemiology, or related field

Work Experience: 3 years

Required Skills

  • Excellent French and English, spoken and written,
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Ability to work independently or in teams with minimum supervision,
  • Experience in managing and validating administrative data,
  • Proficiency in using statistical software such as SAS, R, or Python,
  • Experience in harmonizing and integrating data would be an asset,
  • Good organization and time management skills, and attention to details.

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: $48,503 à $90,090/year Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift:Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Work Site: 5252 boul. de Maisonneuve
