How You Will Make An Impact
- Labour Relations Strategy: Develop and implement labour relations policies and programs while staying current with US labour laws, collective bargaining agreements, and union-management contracts, providing strategic advice to senior management and facilitating communication with stakeholders.
- Collective Bargaining: Assist in preparing for contract negotiations, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and legal compliance, while preparing negotiation strategies, drafting collective agreement language, and educating management on contract changes.
- Grievance and Dispute Resolution: Guide grievance procedures, including investigations, mediations, and arbitrations, and support management in resolving employee disputes while ensuring consistent application of collective agreements and US labour laws.
- Union-Management Relations: Foster positive union-management relationships by acting as a subject matter expert, collaborating with internal teams to resolve issues, and supporting management in applying collective agreement provisions.
- Employee Relations: Oversee employee relations programs to maintain a positive work environment, advise on complex cases such as terminations and workforce adjustments, and provide training on US labour relations topics.
- Compliance and Reporting: Ensure compliance with US labour laws and regulations, prepare reports and briefings for senior management on trends and issues, and monitor changes in labour legislation, recommending necessary adjustments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in US labour relations.
- US labor experience is essential for this role.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and manage complex issues.
- Must be willing to travel to the US as needed.
- Experience working in a unionized environment is a significant advantage.
