Under the direction of the Director, Internal Audit, the Senior Manager, Internal Audit will be part of a dynamic team in providing independent, objective assurance and advisory services designed to add value and improve Gildan’s operations. In the role, the incumbent will develop and execute an internal audit program helping the organization accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate the effectiveness of risk management, control and governance processes. The role
- Support the development and implementation of a flexible risk-based annual internal audit plan with periodic reporting to the Audit & Finance Committe
- Assist in the identification and assessment of business risks to determine the nature, extent and timing of audit procedures
- Lead the planning, execution and reporting phases of operational, compliance and strategic audit mandates per the Internal Audit Plan and as appropriate, any special project requested by Management and the Audit & Finance Committee
- Lead and/or assist in special projects and investigations within the organization as necessary
- Assist the Director, Internal Audit in the preparation of Board-related material
- Assist the Director, Internal Audit in leading an objective team of professionals and support the professional development (i.e., skills, expertise, coaching) of internal auditors based in Montreal, Honduras and Bangladesh
- Lead the development and enhancement of internal audit approaches/templates and methodology to optimize the use and effectiveness of team resources
- Maintain the confidentiality of classified information gathered in the performance of their tasks and responsibilities
- Maintain an organized and well documented internal audit function following the fundamental principles, standards and guidance provided by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA)
- Keep abreast of relevant new developments, emerging practices, and successful practices in internal auditing
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with management stakeholders to strengthen confidence and trust in Internal Audit services
- Based in the Montreal Corporate Head Office
- Hybrid remote work (~3 days in office per week)
- 8 - 10 years of relevant progressive internal audit experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Relevant professional certification/designation (e.g., Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE))
- Team player with proven leadership and team development capabilities
- Experience in the manufacturing industry and/or IT Audit is desirable
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English; working knowledge of French and/or Spanish is considered an asset
- Strong knowledge of fundamental internal auditing principles, generally accepted auditing standards and common audit procedures and techniques
- Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting concepts in a public company setting (e.g. Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR), NI-52-109 certification, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), COSO framework, etc.)
- Experience with use of data analytics and related systems processes (e.g., IDEA)
- Project management experience desirable
- Ability to self-motivate and work independently
- Strong analytical skills, meticulous with keen attention to detail
- Very high level of professionalism and integrity
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Readily voices opinions (supported by facts), escalate issues and ideas, and able to positively manage conflict
- Strong work ethic and able to work under pressure and perform under tight deadlines
- Critical thinker with strong business acumen
- Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Visio and Power Point)
- Mobility as function requires travel (~10 - 15%)
- This position requires proficiency in a language other than French to support customers, employees or markets located outside the province of Quebec or requiring services in a language other than French – mainly English.
