Catholic Social Services is currently seeking a Volunteer Coordinator (37.5 hours/week), to join our Immigration and Settlement Services. Job Summary
As a Volunteer Coordinator for the LACE program you will recruit, interview and maintain relationships with a diverse group of volunteers.
The Learning and Community Enrichment (LACE) program is a longstanding community engagement group for newcomers to Canada. We provide English conversation circles, and our service is available to all newcomers.
Our sessions take place both online and in person and we work in close partnership with Edmonton Public Libraries (EPL) to host in person sessions at seven locations across the city.
The goal of our program is not only to help newcomers improve their English, but also to help them learn about Edmonton and Canada, and to integrate into Canadian society. Our sessions often focus on topics related to living in Canada.
You and the team of volunteers will enhance and maintain programs that support new immigrants and refugees and their transition into life in Canada. Supporting the delivery of Immigration and Settlement Service’s (ISS) programs. This may include, but is not limited to, coordinating program activities, conducting research and assisting with report writing, liaising with key community stakeholders, engaging in program promotional activities, and performing administrative duties as required.

Your responsibilities will include:General:
- Interview, recruit and maintain a team of volunteers to deliver English conversation circles for newcomers
- Ensure all the necessary documentation are completed with volunteers, including police checks.
- Attend all LACE session, both in person and online
- Answer all inquiries from public, library, CSS staff and volunteers regarding LACE and LET’S Go Programs
- Submit monthly activity report to direct supervisor
- Assist other programs whenever time permits
- Fluency in English
- Related Degree/Diploma in Human Services or equivalent
- 2 years of experience working with newcomers to Canada
- Experience in teaching or facilitating, particularly ESL.
- Strong computer skills
- Police Information Check including vulnerable sector search, and Intervention Record Check current within six (6) months
- Full Alberta Driver's license and access to a personal vehicle
- The annual compensation for this position begins at $55,686.96 per year and is based on qualifications and experience.
