Summary: The Link is seeking a compassionate and experienced Family Preservation Clinician with clinical knowledge and experience for a full time position within the Caring Connections Program. The Caring Connections Program provides family preservation and reunification supports to youth and families experiencing chronic conflict due to mental health and behavioral factors in the home. The program provides a safe space for youth to stay and receive clinical supports while working towards the goal of repairing family relationships and returning home. The Family Preservation Clinician will be responsible for working alongside the Caring Connections home staff, supervising, mentoring and supporting youth to engage in healthy activities and develop a positive trauma-informed, strength-based philosophy. Family Preservation Clinicians must work from a person-centered, non-judgmental, trauma-informed, strength-based philosophy.
The Family Preservation Clinician works closely with the Family Preservation Clinical Manager, identifying goals for children and youth to accomplish during their time in the program, supporting participants in developing healthy coping skills and boundaries, identifying and communicating emotions in a healthy way. The Family Preservation Clinician is also responsible for collaborating across various systems to ensure that outcomes are in the best interest of the youth, and align with the overall mission and purpose of the program.
Primary Responsibilities: of the Family Preservation Clinician include, but are not limited to:
- Provide mental health support and assessment to youth within a stabilization program home setting
- Complete clinical documentation, including daily clinical notes and respite stay clinical summaries
- Develop and implement goals for youth participating in the Caring Connections program, in collaboration with the Clinical Manager and staff team
- Provide support to program staff, ensuring consistent and appropriate strategies ands approaches are utilized throughout the home
- Work with children and youth to problem solve, manage conflict, maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations;
- Provide mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual support to participants based on the teachings of the Medicine Wheel: facilitate connections with the cultural activities and ceremonies, if requested.
- Provide crisis support and intervention, as needed;
- Perform general facility tasks, cleaning and cooking chores, and routines;
- Attend staff meetings and training as required;
- Work in collaboration with other teams and external service providers;
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate should demonstrate the following competencies, which incorporate the Seven Sacred Teachings- Love, Respect, Courage, Honesty, Wisdom, and Humility & Truth.
Essential Requirements
- Post-secondary degree in an applicable field of study (Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences)
- Experience working with families in a supportive manner
- Experience working with youth with mental health diagnoses and/or problematic substance use
- Experience working with vulnerable children and youth with complex needs
- Knowledge of trauma and resilience informed care
- Strong counselling skills and experience in Relational care, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Emergency First Aid and CPR Level C
- Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, a clear Child Abuse Registry Check with acceptable Prior Contact Check outcomes and a clear Adult Abuse Registry check; all completed within the last 3 months
Preferred or Willing to obtain within the first three (3) months
- ASIST Certificate (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) and/or any de-escalation training preferred;
- Mental Health First Aid & Safe Talk;
- The Link Commit 2 Kids Training;
- Certificate in either DLE (The Purposeful Use of Daily Life Events) or TCS (Therapeutic Crisis Solutions).

**Valid driver's license and use of personal vehicle is a requirement for this position**
HOURS OF WORK: This position is required to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
Salary: $22.00 per hour with a benefit package, pension plan, paid sick leave, vacation and paid personal leave days
