About Our Opportunity


Reporting to the Director of Image Services, the Video Content Specialist is responsible for the delivery of professional video projects including development, production and project management. The Video Content Specialist will plan and develop many types of videos, including marketing, social media, aerial, and documentary videos, as well as multi-cam live webcasts, radio and television advertising and other audio-visual products for government.

The Video Content Specialist produces, directs, and coordinates on and off-site shoots, and is responsible for cinematography, ENG/EFP camera, video editing and processing video for a variety of distribution platforms including digital and broadcast. They manage individual projects, consult with clients/suppliers and work with a team to develop creative concepts and budgets. The Video Content Specialist is responsible for selecting and directing production crew, as well as operating cameras and lighting equipment.

The Video Content Specialist provides advice to the Director regarding maintenance, repair and upgrades of video editing equipment and associated hardware and software and is accountable for on-site technical management for media coverage of special or emergency events.

This position requires strong video editing skills. Must be proficient in the use of video editing software including Avid Media Composer, Adobe Premier and Adobe After Effects.

Self-motivation and creativity are required to meet client needs, as well as strong ability to problem-solve and to adapt scheduling to ensure all project phases are completed with high quality and while meeting deadlines, which may include work outside regular business hours. The Video Content Specialist must maintain a high degree of confidentiality and implement security measures when working with sensitive or confidential projects. Projects may require travel within the province.

Qualifications and Experience


Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Television Arts (or similar) and 5 years of relevant experience or a Diploma in Film and Television Arts (or similar) and 7 years of relevant experience.

The successful candidate will also have the following:

  • Strong understanding of the video production process and the roles involved.
  • Detailed knowledge and skill in the operation of all equipment associated with the professional audio and visual production and distribution, particularly software and hardware associated with Media Composer, Adobe After Effects, ENG and digital cinematography, audio equipment, routing and switching equipment, wave form and vector scopes, computer graphics, lighting and grip equipment and UAV cinematography.
  • Experience integrating new processes and production techniques.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience with digital media management.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Working Conditions

Normal work week is 35 hours/week, 7 hours/day.

May be required to work overtime on occasion.

Additional Information

This is a TERM employment opportunity with an anticipated end date of November 28, 2025. The appointment status (‘term’, ‘temporary’ or ‘casual’) is dependent on the start date of the successful candidate.

Pay Grade: PR 13

Salary Range: $2,556.10 - $3,107.16 Bi-Weekly
