Responsibilities

What does your day look like as an Operations Superintendent?

  • Planning and coordinating the loading and unloading of ships and/or terminal for handling general cargo and bulk shipments;
  • Determining the equipment and labor needs required for operations;
  • Managing and controlling the costs related to these operations;
  • Enforcing health and safety guidelines in the workplace and for the environment;
  • Supervising the teams under your responsibility;
  • Preparing performance reports;
  • Participating in the evaluation and improvement of processes;
  • Ensuring that plans and strategies are followed and respected;
  • Representing the company in various committees or meetings.

Qualifications

To succeed as an Operations Superintendent, you must have:

  • Three to five (3-5) years of experience supervising unionized personnel;
  • A college and/or university degree or any other combination of relevant experience and training;
  • Bilingualism, both oral and written (French and English);
  • The ability to work outdoors and on different shifts;
  • Demonstrated autonomy, teamwork, flexibility, and judgment;
  • Decision-making skills;
  • A class 5 driver's license.
