Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities, and helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The Ministry supports Albertans through a person-centered, integrated service delivery model that recognizes the unique circumstances, experiences and strengths of individuals and families.
Housing Capital Programs Branch is responsible for affordable housing options and services for Albertans most in need, and helping Alberta’s aging population with supports that are inclusive and responsive to the diverse needs of seniors to lead healthy lives in their homes and communities.

As the Manager of Real Estate Asset Portfolio, you will be responsible for the implementation of the ministry's real estate strategy and Stronger Foundations – Affordable Housing Asset Management Framework. This includes, the development and continual enhancement of operational policies and business processes associated with the real estate assets program lifecycle, and making the most of government-owned housing assets to best meet the needs of low-income Albertans now and into the future. You will utilize your strong interpersonaL and communications skills to coordinate with external stakeholders, Legal, Infrastructure, etc. to implement the approved transactions.
At an operational level, you will be responsible for managing a team of professionals to implement the functions of the team.
This includes, but not limited to:
- All aspects of the land use plans and the development of Alberta Social Housing Corporation (ASHC) holdings
- Portfolio management
- Land acquisition, sale, and transfer
- Negotiation of development agreements
- Recruitment
- Oversight of various consultant services
You will also be responsible for:
- Ensuring effective asset management of ASHC lands and property (e.g., buildings, trailers)
- Administration of easements, right of ways, leases, and other encumbrances on ASHC property
- Providing real estate expertise and analysis, and relevant information and recommendations for site/building selection in support of ASHC real estate transactions and capital planning.

Qualifications
Required:
University Degree in Public Administration, Business, or other related fields (e.g., land administration, urban planning, urban land/economics, business administration, real estate law, planning, appraisal, etc.) with a minimum of 4 years related experience in real estate asset management and/or urban/capital planning.
Preference will be given to candidates with external stakeholder relationships.
Equivalencies of directly related education or experience considered on a one for one basis.
Assets:
- Permanent Alberta Land Agent license and membership with a recognized real estate organizations, the Alberta Professional Planners Institute, Alberta Development Officers Association, or other equivalencies (i.e., certification as Registered Professional Planner (RPP)).
- Experience with MS Office, CORES, LandRite; familiarity with online EDS, Spin, and Alberta Crown land system.
- Project management experience.
- Experience interpreting legislation and/or developing legal agreements.
- Experience as a land administrator, realtor, real estate asset manager, or urban planner.

Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
