Your Opportunity:
Reporting directly to the Director of Indigenous Health North Zone, the Manager of Indigenous Health and Diversity, is a key leadership role within the North Zone Indigenous Health portfolio and also provides support and guidance to other programs and site leaders across the Zone. The manager provides leadership and support to the Director for the planning, development, implementation and supervision of Indigenous Cultural support services and operational priorities and actions. The manager will work closely with Zone Operations and support the Director in development, design and implementation of service delivery models, operational policies and procedures, and quality monitoring standards. The Manager will supervise Indigenous Wellness Coordinators during their engagement and partnership with Indigenous peoples and communities as they work together to establish priorities and identify potential service gaps or improvement opportunities and assist in developing strategies to obtain client/patient feedback and designing and implementing improvement plans.
Description:
Key to the role is the responsibility and accountability of this position to liaise with stakeholders to ensure the implementation of plans, strategies and actions that serve as the foundation of AHS’ Indigenous Health Commitments. The Manager works in collaborative relationships with leaders across AHS Zones as well as with various external partners including First Nation Communities and organizations, Métis Settlements, the Métis Nation of Alberta, First Nation Health Directors, Indigenous Leaders, and governmental departments. Effective internal and external partnerships and collaboration with various departments and among stakeholders at federal, provincial, zone and site/service levels are critical to success for this position.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in social work or other health care field required; Master' degree preferred. Significant Indigenous Cultural knowledge, understanding and community experience will also be considered.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Extensive practical experience in the development of organizational strategy, policy and program planning/management. Strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals to assess options and implications; effective use of conceptual and analytical skills to interpret, analyze, consolidate and determine actions from diverse and complex information. Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfortable with decision-making, coaching and teaching and demonstrated ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset. Knowledge of Trauma Informed care is preferred. Minimum of 5 years' experience working in Indigenous Health or fields with direct engagement with Indigenous populations. Minimum of 3 years related Health care senior professional or leadership experience. Significant history working effectively with Indigenous communities and multijurisdictional partners.
