True North Sports + Entertainment is seeking a highly motivated and guest experience oriented individual for the role of Manager, Event Security.

The Manager, Event Security is responsible for the management of event security operations at Canada Life Centre (CLC), Hockey for All Centre (HFAC), and Burton Cummings Theatre (BCT). By leading a dedicated team, you will ensure that all events are executed flawlessly, showcasing our organization’s commitment to excellence. This role is perfect for those passionate about safety and security and who thrive in a fast-paced environment.

What to be excited for in this role:

  • Provide support to management and leadership with Venue Security Services and Guest Experience.
  • Lead and develop the Event Security team including Event Coordinators, Supervisors, and front-facing Guest Experience casual staff members assigned to work events at CLC.
  • Oversee Security Team member’s journey at CLC, including recruitment, training, onboarding, performance management, scheduling, and payroll.
  • Build upon existing in-house security training curriculum, ensuring compliance with the Manitoba Private Investigators and Security Guards Act.

What you will do:

  • Ensure effective communication, coaching, and performance management within the team.
  • Foster a positive and performance recognition driven work culture.
  • Implement proper reporting structures and goal-oriented measurements.
  • Enhance guest and employee satisfaction by adjusting operations as needed.
  • Develop processes for event security operations, including metal detectors, X-Ray machines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Coordinate with tour security personnel and execute events with Coordinators and Casual Supervisors.
  • Create staffing placements and deploy police and medical services using maps and CAD drawings.
  • Coordinate VIP events, secure show-specific assets, and manage crowd flow and emergency response planning.
  • Assist the Manager, Venue Security & Systems as required.
  • Respond to any security incidents or emergencies, documenting and reporting as necessary.
  • Maintain productive contacts with local and provincial regulatory and emergency service agencies.
  • Serve as a Full-Time TNSE building representative and/or Event Lead as required.
  • Manage and maintain budgets.

What we need from you:

  • A minimum of 2-5 years of security experience in Manitoba.
  • Post Secondary Education- bachelor’s degree or equivalent in business is preferred.
  • Experience in sports and entertainment or hospitality is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of security protocols, procedures, and regulations.
  • Familiarity with CCTV, fire alarm systems, and computerized access control systems.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other applicable technology applications.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Customer service and guest-facing experience.
  • Strategic thinking aligned with TNSE mission and vision.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
  • Good physical condition for demanding duties.
  • Knowledge of crowd control requirements and training.
  • Criminal Background Check and Child Abuse Registry Check required as a condition of employment.
  • Valid Manitoba driver’s license.
