Position Summary:
Reporting directly to the Director of Organizational Development, this role will effectively engage with community members, individuals we support, family members, board members, and staff to foster a sense of community and encourage active participation at events.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of community dynamics, be able to navigate complex network of relationships and social norms that have shaped the everyday lives of individuals and will be adept at using social media and other digital tools to engage with the community.
What you will do:
- Support community engagement strategies and participation at special events both internally and externally.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with corporate partners, vendors, and community agencies.
- Organize and facilitate community engagement by representing the organization at special events, both internally and externally.
- Coordinate volunteer activities related to community engagement events and ensure volunteer satisfaction.
- Assist in fund development initiatives, including fundraising events like Pairings with Pulford.
- Manage administrative tasks related to fundraising & social enterprise efforts, ensuring timely payments and completion of necessary paperwork.
- Utilize Pulford’s social media platforms and other digital platforms to promote events through posts and videos creating engaging content.
- Prepare and distribute various forms of communication.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Create and maintain a calendar for outreach activities, community events, workshops, and appearances.
- Provide full administrative assistance to the Director of Organizational Development.
What you will bring:
- Post secondary education in communications, public relations, social work or related field.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in a related position, including special event and/or community relations experience.
- Proficiency in using social media and digital engagement tools.
- Ability to create engaging content.
- Previous experience in organizing events and activities.
- Strong understanding of community dynamics.
- Must be proactive and self-motivated.
- Excellent written, and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of local community organizations and stakeholders is an asset.
- Must be organized with exceptional attention to detail and strong time management skills.
- Previous work with non-profit organizations preferred.
- Valid Class 5F Driver’s License.
- Access to a reliable vehicle is an asset.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and set up for events.
- Occasional travel within the city limits may be required.
- Primarily indoor work environment with occasional outdoor events.
